At the end of a wooded lane, through a farm gate are two converted 1930's cargo rail carriages. Recovered from the NE Railway, we have retained many original features while transforming these relics into cosy tiny houses.

Carriage No. 1

RAILWAY CARRIAGE NO.1

Carriage No. 1 is a light open-plan space with white-washed tongue and groove walls and reclaimed school gym flooring. The double-glazed doors open onto a little private garden and the meadow with open views across woodland and the National Trust Gibside Estate.

Furnished with a bespoke handcrafted daybed which converts to a full double with comfy mattress and luxury topper, a dining table with stools, equipped kitchen and separate wet room and radiator heating.

This south-facing Carriage has a private garden with seating for dining, relaxing, bird watching and star gazing. From here, you can wander through the garden gate into the meadow down to the river for some wild swimming, fishing or exploring the endless miles of footpaths and cycleways.

The bed is prepared with a quality duvet, pillows and cotton linens.

Includes portable Wifi, radiator heating, bbq and fire pit, free guest parking.

Carriage No. 2

RAILWAY CARRIAGE NO.2

GUEST REVIEWS

“This was the perfect getaway. Perched on one side of the Derwent Valley, Lockhaugh Farm was an idyll. The converted train carriage was cosy, tucked away, quiet and fully catered for our and our dogs needs. The views were stunning, the walks plentiful and picturesque and we couldn't have asked for more. Made our 1-year wedding anniversary an unforgettable occasion.”
